Internal details

The house is a 4 double bedroom, mid terrace, with 2 large reception rooms, a colourful bathroom and an airy breakfasting kitchen. Outside are an easily managed garden and 2 yards with a shed. It faces in an easterly direction and the sheltered garden gets sunshine until mid-day, with the downhill yard having it all afternoon. Most windows are double glazed and there is gas central heating from a combi-boiler.

The house was originally two 2-up-2-down houses that have been knocked through into one large family home. We converted the house during the year 2000, so it has been completely re-wired, with ample power sockets, and re-plastered. All carpets to stay.

 Location

This friendly neighbourhood is along a no-through-road which makes it ideal for pets and children to explore and play in the fields and woodlands surrounding.

The house is located on Ravenside Terrace, in a group of seven short rows, off Whittonstall Road, with footpaths separating the gardens of adjacent terraces. The terraces were built in the late Victorian period (c.1900) and are of solid brick construction with modern extensions.

Go to www.multimap.com and type in our post code NE17 7LE for maps and aerial photos.

The position means that when sitting having your breakfast in the front garden, you can enjoy views over the Derwent Valley, accompanied by skylarks, blackbirds and curlews.

The village centre and main road is a 5 minute level walk from the house, across a tarmaced path with street lights, which runs through a hay meadow. Within one minute’s walk is a playing field, with a playground, and an area of young woodland, which extends into open countryside, well served by public rights of way. Nearby allotments and garages can be rented from the council, although there is parking on the roadside.

All this with a minimal chance of flooding!

  The Village

Chopwell is a small village, high on the south facing slopes of the beautiful Derwent Valley between Rowlands Gill and Ebchester.

There are areas of well established open fields with a football pitch and playground within 50m of the house.

On both sides of the village there are extensive woodlands (including Chopwell Wood), which are open to the public via footpaths and bridleways, linking to the Sustrans national network of car-free routes.

The village has local shops (a co-op and a spar, chemist plus others), a couple of pubs, a bank, post office, 3 churches, take-aways, a library, a community centre, a youth club, a park, a sports centre, gym, a children’s centre and a primary school.

There are buses to Newcastle and the Metro Centre every 30 minutes through the day. By car, Newcastle, Metro Centre and Durham are 20 minutes away, and Hexham is 25 minutes.
